True Yankee ingenuity!!
7-23-1886 (Advertiser):
Albany: A thundershower with hail hit a narrow belt of this place on the 19th. The ground was covered more than an inch deep and several corn fields were badly cut. Mrs. Carrie Cole had the idea of using the hail to make very nice ice cream – she distributed several quarts to her neighbors. (donated by G.E. of Casco)!
